This Wednesday, November 28, at 6:00 p.m., ECU will hold a Hunger Banquet to experientially highlight the global inequities of wealth and resources. The event will be held in Mendenhall Student Center, Multi-Purpose Room.
The event is limited to 100 participants. Upon entering the banquet, participants will be assigned to one of three income groups: low, middle, high. The proportion of the groups replicates the global proportions. The low income group will have 60 participants, the middle income group will have 25 participants, and the high income group will have 15 members.
The high income group will be seated at tables complete with linens, full-course meal, and wait staff. The middle income group will be seated at tables with no linens, less food, and less service. The low income group will be seated on burlap sacks on the floor and have to share a communal bowl of rice.
