Fatal Fire in Jacksonville

Authorities in Jacksonville are investigating the city's first fatal fire in more than two years. It happened just after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the New River apartments on Robinson Drive. When crews arrived, they found one apartment fully engulfed, and the flames had spread to a common attic and damaged three other adjoining units.

Once the flames were doused in the most seriously damaged apartment, officials found a man's body near the kitchen area. The victim's name has not been released. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
