Former UNC Chancellor Questions Football Coach Raise

Former University of North Carolina President Bill Friday says leaders at UNC-Chapel Hill should review a $291,000 raise for football coach Butch Davis.

Davis got both the raise and the one-year contract extension
this week. He has a 3-8 record with just one more game left,
Saturday's game against Duke.

Friday says the raise is more than what the UNC system president
or any chancellor would get and far more than the yearly salary of
an English professor.

Friday says the UNC Board of Trustees should correct what he
described as "excessive imbalances."

Athletic Director Dick Baddour has cited five sellouts and
strong recruiting as reasons for the raise.

Do you see Baddour backing down from this raise? Oh, yeah, they'll just give him $150,000. . .not. BTW even that is more than the English prof is getting. They are supposed to be happy they have a job at THE University. Gag!
