A holiday task force, part of the Jacksonville Police department, is in full swing.
Friday morning, dozens of officers were stationed at six different bustling shopping centers in the city, patrolling parking lots and scanning vehicles. It's all in an effort to reduce theft related crimes.
The police department has found a drastic decrease in crime since the task force was created. The crew is trained not only to educate shoppers on how to keep themselves from becoming a victim, but also to spot potential thieves.
The holiday task force has been helping to reduce shoplifting related crimes in the city for about five years.
