Icy Roads Cause Accidents

You've seen the sign before... "Bridge Ices Before Roadway." Monday morning one Pitt County man got a first hand lesson. Officials say the driver was traveling in a pickup truck on Highway 33 just outside of Grimesland when he crossed a bridge and hit a patch of ice causing his truck to skid off the road into a ditch. They say the man suffered no major injuries, and that a light pole saved the truck from rolling over again.
