The Onslow County Fairgrounds had a tribute of their own on Saturday.
That's where Native American dancers in full regalia led veterans into the circle, at the Great Salt Water Pow Wow. Its theme was also to honor military members of the past, who were invited to dance and received traditional gifts of tobacco as they made their way around the great circle. Also on hand as honorary guest was H. Ross Perot, who told those at the pow wow it is every American's duty to support and honor military members in harms' way.
The pow wow is open to the public again on Sunday at the Onslow County Fairgrounds, on Broadhurst Road.
