Drag Racing Lands on Washington County

An exclusive club for the fast and furious just opened in Washington County but only daredevils need apply!

It's the first of its kind along the far Eastern Carolina community, and the town of Creswell is it's home. The Outer Banks Speedway had it's opening drag race Saturday as dozens of racers burned rubber here for a chance at the strip's first winning purse. The new strip, just off Highway 64 in Creswell was a three-year multi-million dollar project that owner Ivey Johnson says is the chance for lead-foot racers to quench their thirst for speed.

The brand new Outer Banks Speedway is at the corner of Highway 64 and Benson Road in Creswell. Drag races will be held again Sunday.
