Highways Are Dangerous Over Holidays

The holidays are cause for celebration and for many of you, there's no shortage of holiday parties to attend.

For a lot of folks in Eastern Carolina that means getting in the car and driving, something North Carolina Highway Patrol officials say is more dangerous now than ever.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration predicts more than 400 people will be fatally injured between now and New Year's.

Troopers say that's a statistic drivers can change by drinking responsibly at holiday parties and driving cautiously. For your safety and that of others, troopers recommend staying where the party is, taking a cab or picking a designated driver.
