Manteo Post 26 of the American Legion held an annual flag retirement ceremony Wednesday. The tattered flags were collected by local groups in Dare County last year.
Isabel prematurely ended the service of similar flags, but Wednesday's batch had just suffered Outer Banks wear and tear. Legion Post 26 says the ceremony was not timed to coincide with Tuesday's election.
