"A tragedy in the worst way."
Those are the comments from District Attorney Seth Edwards in the case of a Tyrrell County teenager charged with killing her newborn twins.
Edwards, who's the D.A. in the 2nd District, which includes Tyrrell County, says a ninth grade female at Columbia High School is charged with second-degree murder after she gave birth to twins in her bathtub and then dropped the babies out of the bathroom window onto the ground earlier this month.
Authorities say they're trying to decide whether the 14-year-old, who reportedly kept her pregnancy a secret, should be tried as an adult.
