"Are You OK?"

It's a program comforting seniors in one community by showing them their not alone. It's called "Are You OK?”

It's a computer program run by the New Bern Police Department that calls many seniors in the city at least once a day to make sure they don't need any medical help.

The city began the program in 1994 and now has 90 seniors using the free service.

Volunteers with the program this time of year are even handing out Christmas gifts.

Officials say any senior in the New Bern area who wishes to become part of the free service can call the police department to sign up.
