Elderly Man Dies Before Fire

Nash County fire officials say a 75-year-old Rocky Mount man died of natural causes before his home on Bethlehem Road caught on fire Monday.

Officials say autopsy reports led to that finding. A passerby noticed smoke coming from the home about 7:00 a.m. Monday. A small dog perished in the blaze. There is no word on a cause.
