A refund check may be in the mail for some North Carolina drivers. If your auto insurance policy was effective between April 1, 2002 and June 30, 2003, you may qualify for a refund from your insurance company.
State Department of Insurance officials say the refund is a result of insurance companies having higher rates than those approved by state insurance commissioner Jim Long. The refund amount depends upon what rate you were charged by your insurance company as well as any discounts you received.
Those who received a discount on their insurance rates most likely won't see a refund.
