Fire Threat For Eastern Carolina Heightens

Officials with the National Service warn that the threat of wildfire is high in most of Eastern North Carolina.
Gusty winds behind a strong cold front will pick up today. WindSpeeds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph or higher are likelyThrough the early afternoon. In addition...The northwest windsWill usher more dry air into the area. This will result inRelative humidity values this fternoon in the 25 to 30 percent Range.

Additionally, drought conditions across the region have led to dry ground cover. No outside burning of any type should Be attempted. If you see a brush or grass fire in your Area...Report it to the local fire department immediately.
