Part of Highway 264 Still Closed

Westbound lanes of Highway 264 have reopened near the Pitt-Greene County line, but the Eastbound lanes aren't expected to open until 10 p.m. Thursday night.

The closing came after an explosive situation early Thursday morning. Seventy-five-hundred gallons of diesel fuel spilled when a tanker truck traveling Eastbound on Highway 264 overturned around 3 a.m.

Traffic snarled quickly, and vehicles were diverted from the Mozingo Road exit to Wesley Church Road. The truck driver was not seriously injured.
