Currituck County Suing the Governor

Why is Currituck County suing our state's top officials? It's over the county's airport.

Governor Mike Easley and all the members of Council of State are listed in the four page lawsuit. It accuses Easley of refusing to allow the council to consider the transfer of the entire 535 acres of the airport.

Currituck County has been seeking the deed to the airport property since July 20, when Easley signed the state appropriations bill into law. That bill contained a provision requiring the state to convey to Currituck the land on which the airport is located for $1.
