Muffling the Noise

Some call it the sound of freedom, others call it frustrating. It was all about the noise Wednesday at the Havelock Visitors Center in Craven County.

An acoustic consulting firm spoke to a group of about 100 builders, community members and planners from Craven and Carteret Counties. The main goal for those in attendance? To find answers on how they can buffer noise inside their businesses, homes and community buildings.

The main noise issue addressed was from military aircraft. Special insulation and other fixes were suggested. While well-received, the cost will certainly be a factor.

Web sites are being created by both Craven and Carteret Counties so residents can determine where they are in the military’s flight patterns.
