Representatives from the agricultural and arts communities in Martin, Washington, Hyde, Tyrell, and Beaufort Counties met Wednesday in Washington to present a new Web based Agri-tourism campaign.

The goal is to link local artisans with local farms and cultural attractions in an effort to draw tourists to the area. The Web site, homegrownhandmade.com, has maps to sites where tourists can do everything from taking photography lessons to picking strawberries.

It's a campaign one local artist definitely thinks will work. The effort is funded by grants from the Golden Leaf Foundation through the North Carolina Arts Council.
