Light snow is expected across western North Carolina today and tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory from noon today until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning in six counties.

The advisory is in effect in Avery, Cherokee, Haywood, Madison,
Mitchell and Yancey counties.

Forecasters say lingering rain will change to snow showers in the counties bordering the Tennessee border.

Around one inch of snow is expected from Balsams to Burnsville to Newland. Up to two inches could fall along the border.
