Beaufort County Home Closing

It's one of the last remaining home and health care facilities of its kind. Now the Beaufort County Home in Washington is set to shut its doors forever.

Monday night, Beaufort County Commissioners voted unanimously to shut down the Highland Street facility on February 12. The decision was made by the county because of its deteriorating conditions and financial burden on the county.

Thirteen people currently live there and will soon be transferred to other homes thanks to a little financial assistance. The county says it will also help those who work their find new jobs.
