Jet Service Is Back in Eastern Carolina

The jet age is back for Eastern Carolina's airline passengers. After a decade without jet service, Albert J. Ellis Airport in Onslow County welcomed the first regularly-scheduled passenger jet back Monday morning.

U.S. Airways Express will fly two jets into and out of the airport on Mondays and Tuesdays, expanding to three-jets a-day in February. That's when the local commuter airline will also add an eighth daily flight. All other local airports only offer turbo-prop service. But more efficient small jets and more demand may soon change that. The flights are in and out of Charlotte.
