A body found last month in Wilson County has been identified as a Wilson man and deputies don't believe foul play was involved.

The skeletal remains were found October 17th in a wooded area off Bloomery Road in western Wilson County.

The sheriff's office says the remains are those of Leonard Vanosdol of Wilson. Deputies say they made the identification with the help of the State Medical Examiners Office in Greenville and the ECU Department of Anthropology.

Authorities said evidence at the scene led officers to conclude that his death was because of a pre-existing medical condition.

I don't understand how a persons remains could be found but yet that person was never reported as missing. Did he not have some family member that realized that he was gone? How long was his remains in those woods? Why hasn't anyone discovered them for now? It's a shame to know that that gentleman laid there all that time, possibly suffering and waited for someone to find him. Then to also know that he laid there dead all that time and was never laid to rest in a proper way.
