The North Carolina Highway Patrol says three Burmese refugees were killed on US Highway 17 When their car struck an oncoming car.
The accident happened just after 7 pm Saturday evening about four miles south of Vanceboro.
The Highway Patrol said the Toyota the family was riding in ran off the road, the driver apparently overcorrected and the car swerved across the center line striking an oncoming vehicle.
The three killed included an 18 month-old boy. Three people were injured, including the driver of the oncoming car that was struck.
