Operation "Bed Bug" Nets 26 Arrests

Criminal suspects in Wilson got a wake-up call this past weekend, with the arrests of 26 people.

Police called it "Operation Bed Bug", everyone from the police chief to rookies fresh out of the academy hit the streets to address some 880 outstanding warrants early Saturday morning.

Over a five hour period police were able to clear 63 criminal papers and make arrests on charges ranging from felonies to worthless checks.

Police say they typically see a "holiday rush" on crime before Christmas, so they wanted to get as many offenders off the streets before that rush.
