A stop in Havelock in Craven County Friday wrapped up our weeklong series, "Eastern Carolina After Dark."
Ken Heineck headed out with Havelock police officer David Jackson. Just a few minutes into the night the officer pulled over a driver and charged him with drunk driving. But Jackson told Ken that is unusual. He says late at night he normally sees other violations like people not stopping at stop signs or lights out on vehicles.
They also checked the high school to make sure there was no suspicious activity there. There was a car that shouldn't have been there that needed checked out. The funny part of the night was when the officer busted a man for trying to throw out his trash illegally in Food Lion dumpsters. The officer told him that was illegal dumping.
The night ended without any major incidents. While officer Jackson says he likes it that way...he says he also knows crimes is on the rise and to expect anything anytime.
