School On Lockdown After Gun Sighting

West Carteret High School in Morehead City went on lockdown for about an hour this morning.

Police say someone reported suspicious activity to them around 7:30 this morning at a apartment complex adjacent to the school on Bridges Street.

Police tell us the caller told them he thought someone had a gun.

As a precautionary measure, the school was on lockdown for about an hour as police checked the school inside and out, and the woods nearby.

Tabbie Nance, Carteret County Schools spokesperson says no one ever entered the school, and no students were at risk.
