"Eastern Carolina After Dark" headed to Washington in Beaufort County Thursday. It was the latest stop in our week long series.
Earlier in the week we rode along with police in Greenville and Kinston and checked out the action in the Carteret County jail late at night. Thursday in Washington, Dave Jordan decided to look for some of the other things going on after dark.
As he headed out after midnight everything was quiet. So he headed to the one place open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year...The emergency room at Beaufort County Hospital. On this night it wasn't terribly busy but doctors and nurses were dealing with several cases.
Next stop was another place sure to find people late night: Wal-Mart. We ran into plenty of people who said they prefer to do their shopping after midnight. One shopper even told us he came every night after midnight.
Our "Eastern Carolina After Dark" series continues in Havelock, Craven County Friday as Ken Heineck hits the streets there to see what's going on after dark.
