Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue is making changes at her campaign for governor after a report found it had failed to collect complete information on more than 300 donors.
State law requires campaigns to report the occupations and
employers of each donor. Perdue's campaign had failed to provide
that information on people who gave nearly 10 percent of her money
since last year.
In a letter to the editor in The News & Observer of Raleigh, the
Democrat says she takes full responsibility for the shortcomings in
her campaign finance reports filed with the state.
Perdue says she will improve internal procedures within her
campaign and reassign staff. She plans to file updated campaign
reports with the extra information by the end of the week.
