Jacksonville Man Who Escaped Murder Conviction Gets Nailed By Feds

A Jacksonville man who was acquitted of murder charges last year in Onslow County will now spend the next 14 years in prison for supplying the murder weapon.

Randy Linniman was sentenced today in Federal Court for the unlawful transfer of a sawed off shotgun with a silencer. Authorities say he gave the weapon to Ruben Wright, Jr. who then used it to kill James Taulbee in January of 2004. Prosecutors say Linniman then destoryed the weapon and other evidence in the murder case.

Last year Wright was convicted of first degree murder, while Linniman was found not guilty.
