Fieldtrips are a part of the curriculum at many schools in North Carolina. But one parent of a G.W. Carver Elementary student in Edgecombe County says the school took her daughter on an off-campus fieldtrip without a permission slip.
School spokesperson Diane LeFiles says a letter was sent home to parents a week prior to the trip, but a separate permission slip was not. The school district says the miscommunication occurred because it was a county-wide field trip, and some principals didn't seek parental permission.
