There are 400,000 more voters in North Carolina this year than there were for the Presidential election in 2000.
The State Board of Elections says a last minute surge of more than 100,000 voter registrations has pushed the number of North Carolinians eligible to vote next month to nearly 5.5 million.
Nearly 46,000 Democrats have registered this month alone.
