Move over! That's what first responders are telling commuters.
Monday highway patrolmen from across the state will meet in Raleigh as they prepare to spearhead the reinforcement of the "Operation Move Over Initiative", a law that requires all drivers to approach with caution any emergency vehicle, and change lanes out of the way of first responders when they are on a call. The law has been in effect for some time now but lawmen are pushing for tougher enforcement after a recent report shows over the last two years 55 troopers have been hit by other motorists, and two have been killed by neglectful drivers.
If driver's are cited for failing to adhere to the Operation Move Over law they could be fined up to $125 dollars along with court costs, and hit with points on their license.
