Greenville Elects Dunn As Next Mayor

Greenville voters Tuesday chose a new mayor, current city council member Pat Dunn defeating five others for the city's top spot.

Unofficial results show Dunn with 4105 votes, followed by Chip Little with 3630 votes. Little is also a current member of city council.

Current Mayor Don Parrott chose not to run for re-election.

Here are the unofficial results for Greenville city council:

*In District 2, former council member Rufus Huggins lost in his bid to unseat incumbent Rose Glover.

*In District 3, Larry Spell was re-elected, defeating James Tripp 685 to 155.

*In District 4, Calvin Mercer came out on top in a five person race with 44% of the vote. Terri Williams came in second with 28%.

*In District 5, newcomer Max Joyner grabbed 86% of the vote, compared to 14% for Kishen Rao.

Pitt County voters also approved a 1/4 cent sales tax hike to go towards education.
