The State Highway Patrol is releasing new information about Monday's bus accident in Beaufort County that sent several students to the hospital.
Troopers say the driver of the Pontiac car, 26 year-old Frances Austin, drove left of center and side swiped the bus. Troopers say the impact sent the bus out of control on Robersonville road. Both the school bus and car drivers, along with several students, were taken to the hospital.
A Beaufort County school spokesperson reminds parents that buses are one of the safest forms of transportation.
The bus driver is home recovering and all but three of the students on the bus returned to school. Officials say the car driver suffered minor injuries.
