Lenoir County and Kinston law enforcement had a major incident on their hands Saturday night.
Authorities say shots were fired near the Hampton Inn on Highway 258 and Highway 70 in Kinston. Kinston emergency officials say that they evacuated much of the Hampton Inn, and that officials were making a sweep of the area looking for the gunman, or men on the scene.
There's no word yet on any injuries, and there are unconfirmed reports that the shooting started a little before 10 p.m. and lasted at least until 11:15 Saturday night. There's word that the major highways around the area are blocked off.
