Tree Sales to Help Deaf Kids

With Thanksgiving over, folks are now turning all their attention to the yuletide holiday of Christmas.

But Christmas just isn't complete without a Christmas tree, and some people in Wilson are turning that idea into a fundraiser for deaf and blind children across Eastern Carolina. The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf, one of only two schools in the state, is selling trees to raise money for playground equipment for the students, something school officials say is just one way to go above and beyond the call of duty for their kids.

The school has around 150 students that are deaf or blind or even both. The only other school like this in North Carolina is in the mountainous region near Asheville.
