Man Charged With Kidnapping, Trying To Rape 12 Year Old

A 12 year old girl is safe after deputies say a neighbor kidnapped her and then tried to rape her.

Carteret County deputies say it happened Sunday at Lighthouse Way Mobile Home Park near Newport. They say the victim and two friends went to the suspect's trailer to borrow a CD.

Deputies say 22 year old Alejandro Garcia grabbed the 12 year old girl and took her to his bedroom. As the victim was yelling, her two friends ran for help.

Garcia is charged with felony attempted first degree rape of a child under the age of 13 and felony second degree kidnapping. He's in jail on a $100,000 bond.
