Ex-Clerk Charged With Stealing Court Evidence

A former Dare County deputy court clerk is accused of stealing cocaine from the Clerk of Court's evidence locker.

A 17 month investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment and arrest of Lisa Brickhouse of Kill Devil Hills.

Brickhouse was picked up Friday on charges of tampering with evidence and several felony charges related to possessing the cocaine.

She was released from the Dare County Detention Center after posting a $27,500 bond. No word yet on when she'll make her first court appearance.

I find this entire case a judicial fix. I have known Lisa Austin Brickhouse for over 25 years. She is no victim in this case. She was always above ebryone around her in her mind. The social connections she has in Dare County is what has saved her. She is guily as the day is long. If it had been someone without the "Family Ties" that she has they would have been charged and sentenced without mercy. I think it is wrong and another investigation she be held to find out how someone gets away with stealing from and evidence locker and possesion of cocaine. Congratulations on another Mayberry case dissolved.
