Kidnapped Sheep Found Safe

Annabelle the sheep has been found.

The sheep was stolen from the Charles B. Aycock state historic site this past weekend.

On Halloween, Wayne County deputies spent part of the afternoon recovering Annabelle from a home on Bartlett Road. The homeowner called deputies after seeing news reports about the stolen sheep.

Deputies say after a 20 minute chase through the man's yard, Annabelle was captured and returned. Other than being a little frantic, authorities say Annabelle is expected to make a full recovery.

The search continues for the man who stole Annabelle early Sunday morning.
