Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards is trying to pull voters from rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton by casting her as a Washington insider voters should reject.
Speaking this morning at Saint Anselm College, Edwards focused
on what he called the bankrupt ways of Washington.
Clinton has refused to accept Edwards' challenge not to accept
political donations from Washington lobbyists. She has also been
gaining in the polls.
Today, Edwards predicted candidates who accept lobbyists' money
would lose the election.
Clinton's campaign responded to Edwards' criticisms by
questioning Edwards' ties to special interests. He has taken
donations from industries that employ federal lobbyists, though he
doesn't take donations directly from the lobbyists themselves.
