A reduction by half in the number of flu vaccines available means you may not be able to get the shot. The supply was reduced because of possible contamination of the vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control says you must meet certain criteria to be eligible for a vaccine. Those who can still get a vaccine are kids between six to 23 months, anyone over the age 65, women who will be pregnant during flu season, children between six months and 18 years of age who must take aspirin, out of home healthcare workers with children under six months, people living in nursing homes, anyone between two years to 64 with medical conditions, and all healthcare workers.
Healthy people are being urged to not get vaccinated. Healthcare providers have been told to turn them away.
