Recent traffic jams on Fire Tower Road in Pitt County have many motorists wondering when their ride will be a little smooth
The Fire Tower Road construction project has been going on for about eight months. The whole project will widen roads in the area and is scheduled to be completed in October of 2009.
But some motorists say it's been going on too long. Some have even called for the North Carolina Department of Transportation to work at night. But officials say they're concerned about night work because of safety.
Portions of the major Greenville artery Highway 11 were reduced to one lane earlier this week. Transportation officials say they plan to move down to Corey Road next.
