Police Say Man Attacks Students With Belt, Slaps Principal

Authorities say a Dunn man walked into a high school chorus classroom, pulled off his belt and assaulted two students before slapping a principal trying to restrain him.

The Johnston County sheriff's office says Billy Ray Anderson is charged with two counts of simple assault and one count each of
assault on a school official, second-degree trespassing and
communicating threats.

The classroom assaults began shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday at South Johnston High School.

Anderson's mother told authorities that her son has a mental condition and had not been taking his medication for the past several days.

The sheriff's office says Anderson was taken to Central Prison in Raleigh where he can receive medical attention and necessary medications. He is being held in lieu of 10 thousand dollars bail.
