Charges have now been filed against a man who New Bern police say robbed an business, led them on one manhunt, and then escaped from custody before being recaptured.
Scott Kuchinskas is charged with armed robbery, assault by pointing a gun, and resist obstruct and delay police. Police say several additional county of breaking and entering are pending.
Police say the 32 year old man robbed Grady And Grady's Insurance On Neuse Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the suspect ran from police into the Westwood Arms Apartments, an assisted-living senior community. Residents were evacuated while police searched the apartments for him.
Officers say Kuchinskas was able to move into different units through the ceiling of the building before he was finally located in one apartment at 9:15 last night.
Then, during the booking process police say the man managed to escape. He was found several hours later, hiding in the crawl space of a building on Johnson Street.
New Bern police say they are conducting an internal investigation to determine how Kuchinskas was able to escape from the police station last night.
