Are We In The Clear From Hurricanes This Year?

You might recall Carteret County was supposed to have over a twenty percent chance to be hit, according to researchers in Florida. With little rain, little action and beautiful weather some people we talked say that they aren't letting their guard down for a possible storm. The official end of the hurricane season is November 30th.

I find it interesting that we have no tropical systems pass through our area during the summer that NC is experiencing severe drought. The news media plays up the negative effects of storms, but they don't say that NC counts on tropical systems to level the water table. Good comes with the bad.
Editor's note: Our meteorologists have mentioned numerous times that the effects from a tropcial storm would help us out. We also did stories before and after Gabrielle about this.
