RTI International in Research Triangle Park says Unity Resources
Group was providing security when two women were shot and killed as their car approached a convoy.
The deaths come a day after the Iraqi government handed U.S.
officials a report demanding hefty payments and the ouster from
Iraq of Blackwater USA, the Moyock-based company blamed for a
shooting last month that left at least 17 civilians dead.
In the latest incident, guards working for an Australian-owned
security company fired on a car as it approached their convoy,
killing the women before speeding away.
Michael Priddin of Unity Resources Group says his company
regrets the incident, but won't say if his guards killed the women.
RTI International says Unity was providing security for the
group but none of its staff members were involved or present when
the shooting occurred.
