The Marines are not the only folks looking for a few good fans to follow celebrities around the golf course there this week. The first Marine Corps Celebrity Invitational is bringing stars of sports, entertainment and politics to Camp Lejeune. It's also raising money for charities, supporting military families, and raising the stature of Jacksonville as a sports friendly community.
The local sports commission and several hundred volunteers are hosting the biggest event there yet. Many see the celebrity exposure and positive coverage of events as a break-through to developing sporting events and tournaments as a major economic engine.
