It's a place where women addicted to drugs or alcohol can live and work towards a better future.
Mattie's House in Rocky Mount is spreading its wings in an effort to help hundreds of women all over Eastern North Carolina. The home's founder is in the process of purchasing an abandoned motel to become a shelter with over 100 rooms. Officials say they hope to have the new location fully operational in the next 90 days.
The new shelter is supported by grants from the state as well as local organizations.
