ALS Walking for a Cure

ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a disease that's sweeping across the nation, and in eastern carolina more support for those suffering with the ailment is growing.

Today more than 30,000 are living with it, and about 5500 are diagnosed every year. That's why Saturday the local 'Jim Catfish Hunter' chapter of ALS gathered hundreds to the town common in Greenville for their 5th annual walk to "D-feet ALS". The cause of ALS is unknown. The disease attacks spinal cord and brain cells slowly destroying motor skills in the human body. ALS ultimately leads to paralysis and eventually death.

If you missed the walk Saturday, monetary and voluntary contributions can be made by calling the ALS organization at 877-586-4347.
