Last week, we reported on how overcrowded the Pitt County jail is and the problems they face. Well, this week the Pitt Caounty Board of Commissioners has allotted $200,000.00 for the detention center.

Sheriff Mac Manning says the money will be used by the consultant hired by the county to evaluate the overcrowding problem. Manning says right now there are four possible solutions, from renovating the current facility to building a new jail in downtown Greenville. And there's always this option - keep the current jail as is and build a new jail.
